I recently decided I was going to learn how to make the perfect Chicken Shawarma. Then, per usual, Trader Joe’s blew my mind and took all the work out of it for me. In the section where they have all of their pre-seasoned meats they actually have Chicken Shawarma boneless thighs already seasoned and marinated. All you have to do is bake them for 20 minutes, and THEY.ARE.PERFECTION.
This healthy salad has a simple homemade Tahini sauce, but it would also be good with Tzatziki, hummus, etc. You can get creative with these and they’re so simple to throw together.
Total Thyme: 25 minutes total, 10 hands-on
For Tahini Dressing
Tahini Paste: ¼ cup
Lime Juice: 3 tbsp.
Salt: ½ tsp.
Water: 3 tsp.
Ground Cumin: ½ tsp.
Trader Joe’s Chicken Shawarma Thighs: 1 package (if you want to make it on your own, just get 1 lb of chicken thighs and season the chicken with this from Amazon).
Chopped Romaine Lettuce or Spring Mix: 1 bag (or 3 big handfuls)
Cucumber: ½ medium sized
Tomatoes: about ½ cup diced (can use Roma, cherry, grape, etc)
Fresh Parsley: 2 large handfuls
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and lay your chicken thighs on a baking sheet.
Once oven has heated up, pop your chicken in for 20 minutes. While that’s baking…
Make your Tahini Lime Dressing by mixing all the ingredients well in a small bowl.
Dice your tomato, chop your parsley, and chop your cucumber into small pieces.
Divide your lettuce between 2 plates and top with the veggies.
Once your chicken thighs have finished cooking, add to salads and drizzle with the Tahini Lime dressing.
BOOM! It’s that simple. Dinner is ready.
